Barry's Story

After spending some time coaching and teaching at Dawson in the late seventies, I ventured into carpentry, working part-time for the father of one of my players. Concurrently, I pursued gigs as a musician.

However, it became evident that building houses was more financially rewarding. Thus, I embarked on a 30-year journey as a home builder. In '97, I constructed this house overlooking the lake as my personal retreat. Countless parties and gatherings followed.

Tragically, in 2019, I lost my beloved wife, Doris. Seeking solace, I began remodeling. A year later, I took a chance and opened two rooms on Airbnb, unsure of the outcome. Fortunately, over the past two-and-a-half years, I've had the pleasure of meeting wonderful people, listening to captivating stories, and reigniting my passion for music.

With the hope that the worst of COVID is behind us, I utilized the downtime to expand further. I erected a stage, added two trailers, tent sites, an outdoor shower, and have plans for additional trails and landscaping.

Looking ahead, I envision Liberty Hill Hideaway as an ideal venue for intimate weddings, birthday celebrations, reunions, live music performances, stargazing, fishing, or simply seeking respite from the bustle of the world. And, my story will continue.
